TOASTMASTERS is a great club to develop public speaking. The Inland Debating Society provides this information as a public service.

MAKING EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION A REALITY! Toastmasters was formed in 1924, by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley. The purpose was to provide an opportunity for practice and training in the art of public speaking and presiding over meetings. After 80 years, Toastmasters International now consists of over 210,000 members in 11,000 clubs in 90 countries.

There are 110 clubs in District 12, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. You can find a morning, noon or evening club, almost every day of the week.

Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike will benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, or your children, Toastmasters will help you do it better. You will learn and develop your speaking skills with people who are there for the same reason you are...to become better communicators. Toastmasters provides its members with the medium to develop and improve their public speaking and leadership abilities by providing a friendly, comfortable and supportive environment. Most importantly, we love to have a GREAT TIME! You will learn by example and experience how to conduct meetings, give impromptu speeches, present prepared speeches, and offer constructive evaluations in a supportive environment. You also have the opportunity to learn through conferences, training seminars and speech contests. You determine how far you want to go and how soon you want to get there.

The Mission of the Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.
