INLAND EMPIRE DEBATING SOCIETY
Common Cause is taking action to stop unlimited corporate spending
At
its Sunday, February 19, 2012, 3:00 p.m. meeting, The Inland Debating Society will present Spokesperson John Smith
representing Common Cause.
The meeting will be held at the Denny's Restaurant in Redlands, California off the no. 10 freeway 1180 Alabama
Avenue.
Common Cause is supporting a constitutional amendment and declares: The Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United overturned decades of law and granted corporations
the same rights as people when it comes to political spending.
That's ridiculous.
It's time
to stop the unlimited flow of corrupting money into our elections. To do that, we need a constitutional amendment to reverse
Citizens United and declare that only people are people.
Its
plan of action can be viewed at: http://www.commoncause.org
Our debate topic this month is: Resolved: A society has an obligation to ensure adequate health
care for its citizens.
The Inland Empire Debating Society has changed its
meetings to the third Sunday of each month effective February 2012.
